Uganda recognized at University of Ngozi silver jubilee

Uganda Embassy joined the University of Ngozi in celebrating the latter’s 25 years of existence. The university is the first private university in Burundi, established in 1999. It was set up in the province of Ngozi, in the north of the country, and over time, it opened a campus in the city of Bujumbura which currently houses the Faculty of Medicine. 

Uganda Embassy hosts Independence Day celebration

The Embassy of Uganda in Bujumbura successfully hosted the 62nd Independence Day celebrations in Bujumbura under the theme “A Recommitment to Secure and Fortify our Destiny”. The Government of Burundi was represented by Ambassador Bernard Ntahiraja on behalf of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Ambassador Albert Shingiro.

Gold Star Academy pays a courtesy call to the Ambassador

The Proprietor and the Headmaster of Gold Star Academy paid a courtesy call to the Ambassador of Uganda to Burundi, H.E. Maj Gen (rtd) Matayo Kyaligonza.  Gold Star Academy is a school established in Burundi that offers studies based on the Uganda curriculum. The school administrative representatives were accompanied by four Burundian students.

All ready for the 2024 Cancer Run

The Embassy of Uganda in Bujumbura is ready to host the 2024 cancer run. This is an effort to show support for those who have and are battling cancer. The run this year will be held on Saturday 24th August 2024, as opposed to Sunday 25th, because many would-be participants usually attend church on Sundays, and Burundi residents usually use Saturday mornings for mass sporting activities.

Part of the proceeds this year will go towards the Centre Medico Chirurgical de Kinindo (CMCK) Hospital.

Ambassador-designate of Algeria to Burundi pays a courtesy call

The Ambassador-designate of the Republic of Algeria to the Republic of Burundi, Ms. Sabah Fedel paid a courtesy call to H.E. Maj Gen (rtd) Matayo Kyaligonza, Uganda's Ambassador to Burundi.

Ms. Fedel appreciated the magnificent Chancery building and described it as excellent. She expressed her joy in being appointed as Ambassador to Burundi due to its proximity to Uganda, a country many of her peers have spoken glowingly about, and invited her to visit.

Uganda Embassy carries out firefighting drill

Staff of the Embassy of Uganda in Bujumbura today participated in a crash firefighting drill which also served as refresher training on handling emergencies around fire hazards. Staff were advised that anyone should be prepared and ready to take part in such an exercise whenever the need arises 

 

The Government of Uganda lends serious consideration to human capital development which is a distinct pillar in NDP III.

 

U.S. Ambassador to Burundi pays a courtesy call to Uganda's Ambassador

On Wednesday 26th June 2024, H.E. Lisa Peterson, the Ambasador of the United States of America to Burundi paid a courtesy call to H.E Maj Gen (Rtd) Matayo Kyaligonza, the Dean of Ambassadors, and Uganda's Ambassador to Burundi.

The two discussed areas of mutual interest to both nations.
