Uganda Embassy meets top UNEB executives

UNEB top executives led by the Chief Executive Mr. Dan Nokrach Odongo held a meeting with the Uganda Embassy, Bujumbura to strategize on the best way forward to conclude the process of setting up a UNEB Examination Center in the Republic of Burundi. 

 

The process that began in 2018 was affected by the outbreak of the COVID-19 Pandemic with only one school at the time teaching the Ugandan Curriculum in Burundi.

 

Uganda Embassy hosts end of year party

The Embassy of Uganda hosted the annual end of year party for Ugandans at the Public Gardens (Jardin Public) in Bujumbura. 

The theme this year was "strength of family", and Ugandans were strongly encouraged to come along with their families. Children were occupied in games, bouncing castle and other fun activities. 

23rd Summit of COMESA Heads of State and Government

The 23rd Summit of COMESA Heads of State and Government successfully took place in Bujumbura, Burundi, on October 31, 2024. The Embassy of Uganda in Burundi was represented at the event and offered protocol services fot visiting dignitaries.

President Evariste Ndayishimiye assumed the role of Chair of COMESA for the next year, succeeding Zambia’s President Hakainde Hichilema, who formally handed over the instruments of power for the 21-member trade bloc. 

Vice President Maj. (Rtd) Jessica Alupo arrives in Bujumbura

The Vice President of Uganda H.E. Maj. (Rtd) Jessica Alupo arrived in Bujumbura this morning for the 23rd COMESA Summit of Heads of State and Government, scheduled for October 31, 2024. 

She was received by Uganda’s ambassador to Burundi H.E. Maj. Gen. (Rtd) Matayo Kyaligonza, who led Embassy staff in welcoming the Vice President to Burundi.  

 

Uganda recognized at University of Ngozi silver jubilee

Uganda Embassy joined the University of Ngozi in celebrating the latter’s 25 years of existence. The university is the first private university in Burundi, established in 1999. It was set up in the province of Ngozi, in the north of the country, and over time, it opened a campus in the city of Bujumbura which currently houses the Faculty of Medicine. 

Uganda Embassy hosts Independence Day celebration

The Embassy of Uganda in Bujumbura successfully hosted the 62nd Independence Day celebrations in Bujumbura under the theme “A Recommitment to Secure and Fortify our Destiny”. The Government of Burundi was represented by Ambassador Bernard Ntahiraja on behalf of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Ambassador Albert Shingiro.

Gold Star Academy pays a courtesy call to the Ambassador

The Proprietor and the Headmaster of Gold Star Academy paid a courtesy call to the Ambassador of Uganda to Burundi, H.E. Maj Gen (rtd) Matayo Kyaligonza.  Gold Star Academy is a school established in Burundi that offers studies based on the Uganda curriculum. The school administrative representatives were accompanied by four Burundian students.
