Uganda Embassy participates in Burundi Tourism Week
The Embassy of Uganda in Bujumbura participated in the 1st Edition of the Burundi Tourism Week that begun Wednesday 11th and ended today Friday 13th December 2024.
The Embassy of Uganda showcased Uganda's diverse tourism attractions, highlighting the significant population of the endangered mountain gorillas, the scenic Rwenzori Mountains, the 10 national parks distributed in various parts of the country, the white water rafting adventure opportunities in Jinja and the iconic Murchisson Falls.
Cultural tourism was also promoted with the Kikoy attracting massive interest from the patrons of the event.
On the opening day, there was the Tourism forum, where matters relating to promotion of tourism in Burundi were discussed, including green investment in the sector. Invited guests raised questions on steps taken to promote tourism by the Government of Burundi, and ideas on collaboration were fronted, with Uganda particularly mentioned as an exemplary potential collaborating partner. Thereafter, The Ombudsman of the Republic of Burundi Ms. Aimee Laurentine Kanyana visited the Uganda stand and interacted with Embassy of Uganda staff on the tourism scene in Uganda.
Among the panelists at the forum was the President of African Tourism Board. This event was organized by the Ministry of Trade, Transport, Industry and Tourism of Burundi in collaboration with the Office of the Mayor, the Office of the Ombudsman and Visit Burundi.
