The Ambassador-designate of the Republic of Algeria to the Republic of Burundi, Ms. Sabah Fedel paid a courtesy call to H.E. Maj Gen (rtd) Matayo Kyaligonza, Uganda's Ambassador to Burundi.

Ms. Fedel appreciated the magnificent Chancery building and described it as excellent. She expressed her joy in being appointed as Ambassador to Burundi due to its proximity to Uganda, a country many of her peers have spoken glowingly about, and invited her to visit.

Coincidentally, Algeria's Ambassador-designate to Uganda Mr. Mourad Amokrane is to present his credentials this afternoon to HE. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, the President of Uganda.

Ms. Fedel presented her copies of her credence to the Minister of Foreign Affars, Burundi on Monday 29th July 2024, and awaits to present the credentials to the President. She pointed out that Algeria has deep expertise in very many fields, and is eager to present proposals to Burundi on transfer of knowledge and skills.

Indeed, Ambassador Kyaligonza noted that Uganda is grateful to Algeria for the numerous science-based scholarships that have significantly impacted the steep deepening of skills among Ugandans. He also noted that Algeria has become Uganda's most important market for milk and coffee, and the close relations between the leaders of the two countries is a sign of even stronger business, education and cultural ties ahead.

Ambassador Kyaligonza invited Ms. Fedel to visit Uganda and enjoy the beauty and splendor the nation has to offer. With the lure of a direct airline, the latter promised to schedule that.

Ms. Fedel made a note that Algeria is the largest country in Africa, with a land area exceeding 2,381,741 square kilometers with a 2,148 kilometer coastline along the Mediterranian Sea.

As she was departing, Ms. Fedel took cognizance of the snow-capped mountains of Rwenzori, and made it a point to seek a tour of the scenery.
