Uganda Embassy marks Uganda's 61st Independence Day in style
The Embassy of Uganda in Bujumbura hosted a colorful ceremony to mark the 61st Independence Day of the Republic of Uganda. The celebrations were held at the Chancery grounds in Bujumbura.
In attendance were members of the Diplomatic Corps, Ugandan diaspora in Burundi and the business community. The guest of honor was the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Development Cooperation in Burundi, Mr. Ferdinand Bashikako.
In his speech, the Ambassador of Uganda in Burundi H.E. Maj Gen (Rtd) Matayo Kyaligonza emphasized the deep friendship Burundi shares with Uganda, and highlighted the great strides Uganda has taken in its 61 years as a nation. Mr. Bashikako elaborated the 2021 Joint Permanent Commission meeting in which Uganda and Burundi signed various memoranda of understanding across various fields.
