The Proprietor and the Headmaster of Gold Star Academy paid a courtesy call to the Ambassador of Uganda to Burundi, H.E. Maj Gen (rtd) Matayo Kyaligonza.  Gold Star Academy is a school established in Burundi that offers studies based on the Uganda curriculum. The school administrative representatives were accompanied by four Burundian students.

There is a strong demand in Burundi for students interested in following the Ugandan Curriculum or education system from primary to secondary level. This is based on the regional comparative advantage of Uganda's education system both in terms of standards and costs.

Uganda educationists have shown keen interest in investing in the education sector in the Republic of Burundi. With three schools (Millenium International Academy, Claude Intelligent School and Gold Star Academy) now offering the Uganda syllabus, the star of the Ugandan education system is rising. Benefits envisioned for Uganda include employment opportunities for Ugandan teachers to tutor in Burundi and early preparation for Burundian students wishing to continue their further studies at Ugandan universities.
