Embassy participates in roundtable on the return of Burundian Refugees

The Embassy of Uganda in Bujumbura has today joined key development partners such as the European Union (EU), The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), Save the Children, The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), The Korea International Cooperation Agency (Koica), and refugee host countries of Burundian Refugees for a high-level roundtable on the return of Burundian Refugees. 

The event that has drawn participation from members of the Diplomatic Community in Burundi, and Senior officials from the Burundian Government, is being held at Hotel Club Du Lac Tanganyika in Bujumbura.

Discussions will include strategies that will range from post-return evaluation and Intergration of returnees.

With over 40,000 Burundian Refugees currently in Uganda and over 200,000 in other EAC countries, the event will also discuss the economic  resilience of returnees, access to housing, land and Livelihoods.
