    Head of ICRC in CAR pays a coutersy call to Amb. Kyaligonza

    Philippe Beauverd, the Head of Delegation, Central African Republic, at International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) paid a courtesy call to the Ambassador of Uganda in Burundi H.E. Maj Gen (Rtd) Matayo Kyaligonza. The current Chief of Mission for the ICRC Burundi Olivier Haringanji sent apologies as other engagements prevented him from attending this meeting.

    Uganda Embassy commemorates International Womens' Day

    The female staff of the Embassy of Uganda commemorated the International Womens' Day 2025 by paying a visit to a public hospital and sharing time and supplies with the female patients. The decision to engage in this noble cause was inspired by the International Womens' Day 2025 campaign theme which is 'Accelerate Action'. 

    The Embassy worked with female members of the Ugandan Diaspora and managed to collect funds which were used to clear a hospital bill for one patient.

    Supplies were distributed for 25 mothers, and prayers offered for them and their children.

    Uganda Embassy receives best tourism exhibitor award

    The Embassy of Uganda received the best foreign exhibitor award from Visit Burundi. The Embassy was recognized for its stellar participation in the Burundi Tourism Week that was held in December 2024. Visit Burundi is Burundi's official tourism office.
    Ms. Kaneza Florissa, the Communications Manager of Visit Burundi, presented the award to H.E. Maj Gen (Rtd) Matayo Kyaligonza, the Ambassador of Uganda to Burundi, who received the prize on behalf of the Embassy team.

    Uganda Embassy holds Uganda education expo

    The Embassy of Uganda in Bujumbura successfully organized the Uganda Education Expo. In attendance were universities from Uganda, members of the Diplomatic community in Burundi, international organizations, Schools offering Ugandan based curriculum in Burundi and Students at universities in Burundi.

    The event officially began with a performance skit by the students from Millenium International School, who presented Ugandan-themed performances.

    UGANDA EDUCATION EXPO MEDIA STATEMENT

    Uganda Embassy Bujumbura in conjunction with stakeholders in the education sector in both the Republic of Uganda and the Republic of Burundi will hold an Education Exhibition at Donatus Conference Centre on the 15th of February 2025, from 9am -5pm.

    Education has played a significant role in the development and integration of the East Africa Community, with many prominent personalities from EAC member states graduating from Uganda education institutions.
