The Committee on Foreign Affairs of the 11th Parliament of Uganda has been on a working visit in Bujumbura to interface with staff of the Uganda Embassy and to brainstorm on areas in which service delivery can be enhanced. It is during this exercise that the Committee, led by the Chairperson Hon. Norah Bigirwa Nyendwoha interacted with the Ugandan Diaspora in Burundi and had in-depth exchanges on various matters that are of concern to the community.

The Embassy of Uganda in Bujumbura facilitated the interaction, which was a first for the Ugandans living and working in Burundi. The Ambassador of Uganda to Burundi Maj Gen (rtd) Matayo Kyaligonza, who led the team from the Embassy, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Committee of Foreign Affairs for the forward thinking and fresh initiative that aims to spur coordinated initiatives that will enhance Uganda's commercial diplomacy endeavours, and ensure the welfare of Ugandans, in line with the tenets of the National Development Plan (NDP) III.
