Crime Victims

The Embassy is committed to assisting Ugandan citizens who become victims of crime while in Burundi.

We help in two ways:

  1. Consular officers, and staff work with crime victims to help them, where needed, to get in touch with the local police.
  2. In Uganda, our office will stay in touch with family members in Uganda, and help provide contact facilities for the victim when possible.

If you are the victim of a crime while in Burundi:

  • Contact the Uganda Embassy: Consular officers are available for emergency assistance 24 hours/day, 7 days/week. The Chairperson of the Association of Ugandans in Burundi can assist in contacting the Embassy officer.
  • Contact the local police to report the incident and get immediate help.  Request a copy of the police abstract.

NB. It is critical all Ugandan Citizens register with the Embassy immediately upon arrival in Burundi, and update their contact records regularly.
